Super Bowls – Syosset

It’s quite a travesty that I haven’t reviewed Super Bowls yet, considering I’ve been to this eatery more times than I’d like to admit since their opening in Syosset.

When I first heard of the renowned “acai bowl,” I was very skeptical. Sure, perhaps the bowl is visually appealing. But after all, the bowl is just a bunch of fruit. I can easily make this at home, and I surely don’t need to Instagram it. What’s the big deal?

Well, yes — acai bowls are truly bowls of fruit, along with some granola, acai smoothie, and some toppings. However, I was quickly shocked at how tasty and delightful these bowls are. They are beautiful, relatively healthy, and are perfect for any meal, snack, or any time of day.

Super Bowls’ acai bowl was the first (and only) acai bowl I have ever tried so far in my youth. However, I admittedly confess that I am addicted to them. I usually eat them for lunch after the gym, but they are perfect for any time of day.

Super Bowls as an eatery itself is a very pleasant, chill spot. It is right off of Jericho Turnpike in Syosset, across from Syosset Hospital (in case you pass out from how great they are… Hah..?). There is a fair amount of seating inside, but the place isn’t huge. Most people take an acai bowl to go, while others grab a quick bite with friends or family and sit around. The eatery sells a ton of drinks, some smoothies, granola, and various nut butters by itself.

When I first came to Super Bowls, I was slightly intimidated about what to order. What size? What toppings? There are three sizes: Kids, Regular, and Super. The Kids size is — honestly — enough. I usually get the Kids size, but if I am really starving, I’ll go for the Regular. The Super size just seems Super ridiculous.

The acai bowl order in itself comes with coconut topping, granola, acai smoothie, strawberries, blueberries, and a sliced banana. The acai smoothie is essentially a base for the dish, and it’s thicker and slushier than a conventional smoothie. There are more toppings to choose from, such as Nutella, almond butter, peanut butter, and cookie butter. You could also have a special blend of almond milk, etc. My customary order is a Kids or Regular sized acai bowl with cookie butter and almond milk. Incredible… Too good.

The staff is extremely friendly, and they make the acai bowl right in front of you. Super Bowls can be slightly absurd during its “peak hours,” which could be some time around lunch on weekends or on Friday. However, most of the day, it is relatively approachable an empty. The most targeted crowd that appears to fanatically flock to Super Bowls is a younger female demographic, which evidently I help fuel through my regular visits.

All in all, I probably go to Super Bowls way too much, but I don’t plan on stopping anytime soon, and the first step to solving a problem is admitting you have one. Of course, I don’t consider this a problem. Super Bowls is quite healthy.

Sure, these fancy-schmancy acai bowls could be made in the comfort of your own home, if you’re willing to work to put them together. Nonetheless, I am a supporter of Super Bowls, and they should probably start a membership service because I think I already have >1000 points.
